24/7 Crisis Line
March 31, 2017
Woodland Centers, a comprehensive community mental health center, has been serving the mental health needs of west central Minnesota since 1958. With locations in six counties, and soon to be a seventh, Woodland Centers continues to grow and expand. This growth has led to a need for additional space and capacity in the agencies’ Montevideo office. The current office space, located at 517 N 17th St in Montevideo, has been rented from Chippewa County for the past 20 years but due to increased need and capacity for services, Woodland Centers has outgrown the space.
In June 2016, Woodland Centers purchased the former Thrifty White building, located at 1234 East Highway 7 in Montevideo, from Dave Arneson. General Contractor Van Gorp Development wasted no time remodeling the interior of the 9,000 square foot building to meet the needs of Woodland Centers. The new location has ample space for the current and future staff of Woodland Centers to continue to provide a wide range of services to support people of all ages in finding hope and recovery in a safe and compassionate environment. Included in the space are three group rooms, 11 individual offices for psychiatric and outpatient therapy staff, 3 offices for access and reception, and 7 shared offices for program staff. The new building also holds a large space for New Beginnings Drop in Center where clients can have a safe, supportive environment to learn new skills and engage in social activities with peers.
The remodeling was completed ahead of schedule on March 31, 2017 and Woodland Centers would like to extend a thank you to the various Montevideo vendors for their steadfast work in the completion of this project: Van Gorp Development for general contracting and the overall build, Pro-Build, Dunrite Heating and Air Conditioning, Pederson Electrical LLC, A & L Plumbing, Overtime Texturing, Claire Paint and Wallpaper Co. LLC, French Glass and Specialty, Counter Craft, DC Signs, and the many others who contributed to the completion of this project.
Woodland Centers will begin offering services in the new location on April 17, 2017. An open house will be planned for the latter part of May.
